Call for Expressions of Interest Leadership Team

STOPS to Violence is a province wide network that promotes healthy relationships and strong, safe, violence free communities.  Our vision is a healthy, vibrant Saskatchewan where all people are valued equally and live free from violence and abuse.

Our Invitation

STOPS to Violence is inviting expressions of interest from people who would like to be part of our Leadership Team who fulfills the role of board of directors. As a governance board, the Leadership Team is responsible for guiding the strategic direction of STOPS to Violence, ensuring strong governance, policies, and accountability, while supporting the organization to fulfill its purpose and vision. These are volunteer roles.

We recognize that people bring many different kinds of experience to governance. You do not need formal board experience to participate. We are looking for people with a mix of experiences and ways of knowing, including:

  • Experience in areas such as finance, human resources, governance, communications, or organizational development

  • Involvement in community work, leadership, or local initiatives

  • Lived experience and strong connection to community, including an understanding of local realities, relationships, and the strengths and challenges that shape people’s everyday lives

  • Experience supporting others in informal or natural support roles (family, friends, neighbours, coworkers)

  • Understanding of, or interest in learning about, violence prevention, community safety, well-being and social systems change

Reciprocity

What we’re asking for:

  • A willingness to learn together as we shift to a sociocratic approach to governance (more about Sociocracy below)

  • Participation in regular meetings and shared decision-making (about 5–7 meetings each year, both in person and virtual)

  • Staying connected through the Network Hub, our online space on Mighty Networks

What we offer:

  • Orientation and ongoing support, including learning opportunities related to our sociocratic approach (more about this below)

  • Opportunities to grow your skills and leadership alongside others

  • Connection to a network of people, relationships, and shared resources across the province

  • Working alongside a community of people, grounded in a shared sense of purpose and hope, to shift the story of violence in our province toward connection, care, and prevention.

  • Travel expenses and related costs for in person meetings will be covered.

  • The first step is to submit your expression of interest by Friday, June 12, 2026 by clicking here.

  • You will be contacted by Tracy from STOPS to Violence who will provide more information about STOPS and answer questions you have.

  • Selected candidates will be announced at the Annual General Meeting on June 25, 2026. Following this, you will be welcomed, take part in an orientation, and begin setting meeting schedules.

How does the process work?

Our Journey into Sociocracy

We are on a journey to implement a governance approach called Sociocracy to better share leadership and make decisions across the organization. Sociocracy is a way of organizing that brings people into small, connected circles where decisions are made together using consent with the principles of equivalence, transparency and effectiveness. Learn more at Sociocracy For All.

Rather than relying on a traditional top-down structure, our work is organized through interconnected governance circles where members bring their perspectives, experience, and relationships into the conversation. This approach supports transparency, clarity of roles, and meaningful participation, helping us stay responsive to communities across Saskatchewan while strengthening our collective ability to prevent violence and support safety and well-being.

Strong governance helps ensure STOPS can continue to support communities across Saskatchewan in building connection, strengthening natural supports, and preventing violence. The more voices and perspectives we have at the table, the stronger our work becomes. Governance at STOPS is not about ‘sitting on a board’. It is about being part of thoughtful conversations, helping shape direction, and supporting how we move our work forward across the province.
