An Invitation: Strengthening Natural Supports in Saskatchewan
|
|
Saskatchewan is seeing rising rates of interpersonal violence, making everyday relationships and community connections more important than ever. Across the province, people support one another through family, friendships, workplaces and community networks—these natural supports are often the first to notice when someone is struggling. STOPS to Violence continues to explore community animation, an approach that helps communities recognize their strengths, deepen relationships and build capacity to care for one another, reducing isolation and strengthening natural supports before situations reach crisis. STOPS to Violence is hosting a series of gatherings to explore how communities and service systems can better recognize, align with and support these everyday networks of care. At the gatherings we will share our community animation approach and lessons on violence prevention; explore how care, knowledge, power and leadership can be shared more meaningfully; introduce the four modes of working—to, for, with and by communities—and discuss the roles of community animators, trusted connectors and community ecosystems. Let’s Talk about Conflict Virtual Workshop

Conflict can show up anywhere collaboration happens: between colleagues, across organizations, within partnerships, or around decisions where the stakes feel especially high. The challenge isn’t avoiding it. It’s knowing what to do when you’re in it. Join facilitator Yas Hassen on October 7 from 1:00–4:30 p.m. ET for Let's Talk About Conflict, a practical virtual workshop that will help you navigate tension, disagreement, and difficult conversations with greater confidence.

Many men and boys who have experienced childhood sexual abuse carry their experiences in silence. End The Silence is a Canadian initiative dedicated to supporting male survivors by providing access to information, resources, and pathways to healing. Through the Get Support section, individuals can access: Information about the impacts of childhood sexual abuse on men and boys Crisis and support resources Referrals to counselling and mental health services Information for family members and supporters Educational resources to help survivors understand and navigate the healing process Connections to organizations that support male survivors

Sexual Violence Victim Advocate Program
|
The Sexual Violence Victim Advocacy Program (SVVAP) at the Regina Sexual Assault Centre provides survivors with information, advocacy, and emotional support after sexual violence. Funded by the Law Foundation of Saskatchewan, the program strengthens RSAC’s existing advocacy services by offering a dedicated advocate to provide consistent, structured, and accessible support.
Experiencing sexual violence can make navigating the legal and healthcare systems feel overwhelming. Understanding your options, knowing what to expect, and deciding what steps to take can be difficult. This program provides compassionate, trauma-informed support and clear, unbiased information to help you make informed decisions at your own pace.

Young Canadians’ exposure to authentic violent & gore content online
|
|
Images of real gore and violence, like police shootings, beheadings, self-harm, and child abuse, used to be difficult to find online and were relegated to niche corners of the internet. Now, they can surface on online platforms that teens use every day. However, no known Canadian research has investigated teens’ exposure to this content, how it impacts them, or what they think should be done about the issue, leaving policy makers, educators, and advocates without the evidence needed to make data-driven regulations and interventions. To address these gaps, the Canadian Centre for Child Protection and researchers from DIY: Digital Safety developed a questionnaire and commissioned Léger, a marketing research and polling firm, to survey more than 1,000 13–18-year-olds in Canada. |
